Packers and Associated Devices PMEK packer for wells using ESP, PCP and SRP types of Pumps

This packer assembly is used to achieve long-term and leak-free isolation of production tube from the well casing. It will also protect the formation during various production operations. Further it will allow the maintenance and replacement of the downhole equipment without the need to kill the well.

Designated area:
Oil wells equipped by electrical submersible pumps (ESP), progressive cavity pumps (PCP) or sucker-rod pumps (SRP).

Distinguishing features:
 • Packer assembly consists of:

            - PMEK packer
            - Cut-off valve (integrated into packer or external)
            - Removal tool
            - Screen anchor (if ordered)

 • The packer is installed in the well casing by mechanical clockwise rotation. It is for long term operation without connection to production tube;

 •  Oil flowing from the formation into the working area under the packer is cleaned from mechanical admixtures which extends failure-free operation of the pump.

 •  The cut-off valve allows lowering and removal of the downhole equipment without having to kill the well, and thus eliminating associated adverse effects on the formation. Opening and closure of the valve occurs automatically by pressure differential above and below the packer.

 •  The integrated cut-off valve can be removed (without removal of the packer) using a special removal tool attached to a rod assembly. The same technique is used for re-installation of the cut-off valve.   

 •   The integrated packer anchor allows the correct positioning of the packer downhole.

 •    The packer is equipped with a rotational mechanism which facilitates trouble-free setting and removal.

 •    The packer is installed (set) at the intended position downhole by a simple clockwise rotation with a force of only 150 kgm without the need for any additional force being exerted through the weight of the production tubing string. After the installation (setting) of the packer, the tubing is disconnected by a further clockwise rotation.

 • The packer is removed by raising the production tubing equipped with a removal tool applying a maximum force of 10 TF.

 •   Maximum operating temperature of the packer is 150 °С. However, on request the sealing element of the packer can be supplied which will withstand operating temperatures up to 200 °С.

 •  Possibility of removal of the cut-off valve using a rod assembly instead of the production tubing string. This will allow shorter overhaul periods.

 • Possibility of maintenance in downhole without packer removal.

 • Possibility of lowering and raising downhole equipment without killing the well.

 •  Possibility to remove wellhead equipment without killing the well.

 • Pre-cleaning of the casing not required before packer installation.
